Calendar Sep 13, 2023 at 10 am, runs for 40 weeks

This class will meet on Zoom on the second Wednesday of each month from September 13 to June 12. Each month a book will be discussed and author reviewed, led by a member of the class. The books are from various genres and should all stimulate interesting discussion.

Great Decisions 2024

Great Decisions 2024 is an opportunity to gain an understanding of global challenges that are increasingly becoming domestic concerns.  Topics for 2024 include the Mideast, climate, trade, NATO, etc.  The classes include a video and class discussion.

Writing Your Story

Calendar Apr 2, 2024 at 1 pm, runs for 8 weeks

The course is designed for individuals who have a passion for writing but struggle to find the time amidst their busy schedule.  Here, you will embark on a journey of self-expression, discovery, and creative exploration without the pressure of deadlines or grades.  Throughout this course, you will delve into various aspects of writing, including character development, plot structure, setting, dialogue, and narrative techniques.  Our primary focus is to unleash your creative potential.  Whether you aspire to write your memoir, family history, fiction, or non-fiction, this class provides a supportive environment where you can experiment with different writing styles and genres.  Each class includes time to write and to share your writing (if you wish).

Participants will need notebooks and pens, or their computer to write in class.

Jason and the Golden Fleece is a combination of myth, history, and recycled stories of people who created history through real events or through their interpretation of those who lived then  Greece became a maritime power in part because of these myths.

Watercolor for Beginners

Calendar Apr 10, 2024 at 1 pm, runs for 5 weeks

Learn and practice watercolor techniques by painting four subjects designed to present a variety of painting challenges.  This course is designed for persons with little or no previous art experience.  Both new and returning students are welcome.  The first class will focus on providing an introduction for new students.  (Returning students are welcome to attend, either to review the introduction or to work independently on a project that I will provide.)  Then all students will have four weeks of instruction.  A $5.00 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.  

There will be no class on April 17.  A materials list will be e-mailed to students prior to the first class.

Plein Air Art

Calendar Apr 18, 2024 at 9:30 am, runs for 6 weeks

Students will meet at various outdoor locations to paint in the fast drying media of their choice.  The various outdoor locations will be determined at each class.  The first class will meet at Laurel Hill Cemetary, Saco, ME.  Venues and materials will be discussed with each student by phone prior to the first class.
