Masterpieces of American Art HIstory

Explore the salient history of American Art from its beginnings in the colonial past up until World War I. Become acquainted with the master painters and works which represent a political and historic view of this new nation. From painters such as Copley, Stuart, Peale, West, Eakins, Cole, Remington, Mount, Sargent, Cassatt, Homer and many others, view their work as we see America and its people. The course will be conducted on Zoom and consist of a series of lectures supported by copies of artwork and other illustrations. Class discussion will take place in class session as time permits.
Bob is an active artist, who has always had an interest in art history, the artists and their work. He has taught numerous Art history courses for York County Senior College.

Basic Digital Photography
with Millett Day
Tuesday Outside Class
In this course, you will learn basic camera settings including ISO, shutter speed, aperture and white balance. You will also learn about camera equipment and how to take care of them. You will learn how to move from taking images in auto setting to aperture or shutter speed priority. Please bring your camera instruction manual. Cameras vary widely and to get the most from your camera, you should be willing to become famiiar with it. Also, it would be helpful to have a tripod.
This is my third year teaching this course here at YCSC and I have also taught this course while working at IDEXX Labs. My interest in digital photography is now in its second decade. Itinerary will include but not limited to Laudholm, Rachel Carson, Mt. Agamenticus, Laurel Hill Cemetery and local beaches. Also places suggested by class participants.
Plein Air Painting

Awareness of outside colors, atmosphere and composition by sketching with watercolor or acrylic paint.
